SF SPCA Humane Education

Jacee met with 2 groups of children at the SF SPCA’s summer camp. I gave a lecture on the differences between Service, Therapy, and Working animals. Jacee gave a demo of several of her commands. Next we gave a lesson on how to pet a dog:

  1. ask the dog’s owner for permission
  2. let the dog sniff your hand
  3. pet the dog gently

Finally the kids and councilors all got to pet Jacee.

Puppy Dog Tales at Oakes Children’s Center

Jacee had her first PDT session at Oaks. Two children read to her. One read her a touch & feel book about Labrador puppies. The second child had much more advanced reading skills and read from one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

Oakes Children’s Center

Oakes Children’s Center is dedicated to providing education and mental health services to youth with emotional and/or developmental challenges and to their families, particularly in underserved communities.

Jacee will be doing the Puppy Dog Tales reading program at Oakes. We had our first visit, and got to meet most of the students and staff. Everyone loved Jacee and vice-versa.

We will return in 2 weeks to start the reading program.
